Korum is a French technical death metal band that was formed in Paris in 1999 .

history

The band was founded in 1999 by Boban Tomic (drums) and Christophe Nedeler (electric bass, vocals). A short time later guitarist Nicolas “Nico” Coudert joined the band. Together they developed the first pieces and rehearsed them together. For two years the search for a suitable singer was in vain, as the band members considered Nedeler alone to be an unsuitable singer. It was not until two years later that a suitable singer was found in Olivier Delecroix.

Together they played the first smaller gigs and released their first demo called Shivering in 2001, which was limited to 300 copies. In September 2001 the band began work on the first album. The Paris label Sekhmet Records became aware of the band and signed the band. In December 2001, the band recorded songs for the album for five days at Le Frigo, Paris . The album Son of the Breed was released in April 2002. In June of the same year the band went on a tour through Poland . From September 2002 to April 2003, 20 different appearances followed with bands such as Napalm Death , Opeth , The Haunted , Mastodon , Vile , Spawn of Possession and Aborted .

In July 2003, the second album No Dominion was recorded and released in November. In the following months, the band played at various concerts, such as the Fury Festival in June 2004, and performed with bands such as Slipknot , Killswitch Engage , The Dillinger Escape Plan and Meshuggah . In 2004 some changes in the line-up followed, which did not last long and changed again in October 2005. Since then the line-up has been stable with Pascal Vigne as guitarist, Gaël Fèret as drummer and Christophe Nedeler (e-bass, vocals).

In 2006 they released their third album Ockham's Razor on Sekhmet Records.

style

Characteristic of the band is the extremely deep growling , the high level of technical playing of the instruments and the use of jazz elements in the works. Fast and slow passages alternate with each other.
