Kossa (Ukrainian and Russian Коса ; Romanian Cosa-Mare ) is a village in Ukraine ( Odessa Oblast , Bolhrad Raion ). It is located on the eastern edge of the Jalpuhsee and was created in 1807 when the area was repopulated. The name is derived from the Russian word for spit , the Russian population was mainly engaged in fishing and fish farming. Together with the northern village of Krynytschne ( Криничне ) they form the district council of Krynytschne.
