The Kougarok River is an approximately 85 km long right tributary of the Kuzitrin River on the Seward Peninsula in western Alaska .
The Kougarok River arises at the confluence of Macklin Creek and Washington Creek in the north of the Seward Peninsula. It flows south. Taylor Airport (FAA code: AK49) is located at the confluence of Taylor Creek . For the top 50 kilometers to Quartz Creek (Kougarok) Airport (FAA code: 5QC), the Nome – Taylor Highway runs along the river. The Kougarok River then flows through the lowlands, where it has a strongly meandering behavior. Eventually it flows into the Kuzitrin River .
The river was originally called Kugruk . Since another river had the same name, the Kougarok River was given its current name by the US Geological Survey (USGS) in 1904 .
