Kowchyn ( Ukrainian Ковчин ; Russian Ковчин Kowtschin ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast Chernihiv with about 1280 inhabitants (2001).

The village, first mentioned in writing in 1667, is located in the Kulykiwka district on the right bank of the Desna 8 km northeast of the district center of Kulykivka and 45 km east of the Chernihiv oblast center .

Kowtschyn is the administrative center of the eponymous, 59.22 km² district council , to which the village of Ukrajinske ( Українське ) with about 40 inhabitants belongs.

Personalities

The Ukrainian politician and poet Mychailo Tusch ( Михайло Никифорович Туш ; 1943–2013) was born in Kowchyn .
