Emmeram Kränkl

Emmeram Kränkl OSB (born March 29, 1942 in Klattau ) is the emeritus abbot of the Benedictine Abbey of St. Stephan in Augsburg . Since his resignation in 2006 he has lived in the Benedictine Abbey of Schäftlarn .

Life

Emmeram Kränkl, a doctor of theology, was ordained a priest in 1970 . On October 11, 1987, his confreres elected him 9th abbot of St. Stephen's Abbey. The benediction as abbot Kränkl received on 14 December 1987. On 23 May 2006 he resigned.

During his term of office, extensive construction work took place, the transfer of responsibility for the high school near St. Stephan to the city of Augsburg and the opening of the St. Benedikt guest house.

For a short time (2005–2006) Emmeram Kränkl was also Abbot President of the Bavarian Benedictine Congregation .

Today he lives in the Schäftlarn monastery and works as a teacher, confessor, company donor and acting head of the Portuguese Catholic Mission in Augsburg.
