Gregor Zasche

Gregor Zasche OSB (* 1938 in Berlin ) is the emeritus abbot of the Benedictine Abbey of Schäftlarn .

Life

Gregor Zasche, who holds a doctorate in theologian, was elected abbot of the Schäftlarn Benedictine abbey, founded in 762, by the Schäftlarn capitulars . He was the fifth abbot of the Benedictine settlement in Schäftlarn, which was re-established by King Ludwig I in 1866 . Gregor Zasche's abbot motto is “Happy in common hope”. In 2008 Petrus Höhensteiger OSB was elected as his successor.

From 1993 to 2005 and from 2006 to 2009 he was Abbot President of the Bavarian Benedictine Congregation .
