Petrus climber
Petrus Höhensteiger OSB (* 1963 in Prien am Chiemsee ) is the abbot of the Benedictine Abbey of Schäftlarn, founded in 762 .
Life
Petrus Höhensteiger studied philosophy and theology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1987 he made his profession and was ordained priest in 1995 . He is a teacher at the Benedictine grammar school in Schäftlarn, as well as novice and guest master in the Schäftlarn monastery.
Father Höhensteiger was elected abbot by the capitulars of Schäftlarn on July 11, 2008 and received the benediction from the Archbishop of Munich-Freising, Reinhard Marx , on October 18, 2008 in the parish church of St. Benedict . He is the sixth abbot of the Benedictine settlement in Schäftlarn, which was re-established by King Ludwig I in 1866 . The abbot motto of Petrus Höhensteiger is “Prepare the way for the Lord”.
