Charles Favre

Charles Favre (born August 18, 1957 in Lausanne , resident in Saint-Barthélemy ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

Life and political office

The physician, who now works as a management consultant, gained his first parliamentary experience as a member of the Echallens municipal council , of which he was a member from 1985 to 1994. Between 1990 and 1994 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Vaud and from 1994 to 2002 he was a member of the cantonal government .

In the 1999 elections he was elected to the National Council, of which he was a member until the end of 2011. As part of his parliamentary work, he was a member of the National Council's Commission for Economy and Taxes.

Political profile

Favre is a liberal politician. He advocates economic liberalization as well as further opening up Switzerland. He is less liberal about social change. With regard to finance and migration policy, he takes moderate, middle-class positions; he is critical of the further expansion of public welfare and environmental protection.
