Location of Krachtsheide in Brandenburg

Krachtsheide is an inhabited part of the municipality of Herzberg , a district of the municipality of Rietz-Neuendorf in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg . The village is located near the federal highway 168 and has 26 inhabitants.

The name

The name can be traced back to the old noble family Kracht . The Kracht were the owners of Gut Lindenberg (Mark). Today's Krachtsheide belonged to the property, previously there was only forest (heather) in Krachtsheide. Because of this it was called Krachtsheide by everyone. It was mentioned for the first time around 1500, but only as a property and not as an independent village.

From power

After several owners of the estate in Lindenberg, ownership was transferred to the rule of Bartholomeus and Philipp von Kracht around 1500. However, there must have been a change of ownership, because between 1528 and 1530 a Valtin Streuman von Ragow was named as the owner of the estate. From 1553 the estate was again fully owned by Kracht. Isaac von Kracht, a son of Bartholomeus, inherited the estate, and so it became an official and independent manor. From Isaac's numerous sons, his son Hildebrand took over the estate as the sole heir in 1618 . This quickly rose to the council of the Brandenburg colonels. He also acted as captain of the Küstrin Fortress . Hildebrand von Kracht died in 1638. Heir to the paternal property was his daughter Hedwig Sophie von Kracht from his second marriage. Hedwig Sophie died in 1694.

The Krachtsheide

Mainly the Krachtsheide was available as wood for the rulers. A document from 1518 shows that the nobility had the right to cover all their wood needs. Farmers and workers were only allowed to cover their need for timber from the Krachtheide. A small farm was built in the middle of the forest, it was the home of the forest ranger and his family.

Wild in Krachtsheide

The game population in Krachtsheide has always been increased, to the chagrin of the farmers and luckily the hunters. A group of 30 deer is not uncommon. At that time, hares, rabbits, pheasants, partridges, wild ducks, foxes, squirrels and wild boars particularly animated the forest. At this time, in late autumn, large driven hunts were held in which many officers from the nearby garrison took part.

military

During the Cold War , the Soviet Union had a training center in the heath. The soldiers left many small trenches and holes. Two bunkers were even built at the height of the training center. The officer slept in the smaller center, the larger one was mainly used as a sleeping place for the NCOs, and the common soldiers had to sleep outside. You can still see the remains of the bunker today.

Small village, tall buildings

With tall buildings are mainly meant the fire tower and the wind turbine. In 1962 a wooden tower was built on the Schrobitzer Berg for the first time , in 1982 it was replaced by the tower that is still in existence today. Cameras are installed on this tower which, with the help of special software, can detect and report a fire or smoke development. The wind turbine was built in 1996 and supplies the whole of Krachtsheide with electricity.

Emiliental

An Emilia is said to have lived in the Emiliental earlier. Because it looks as if there is a valley in front of the mountain, this part of Krachtsheides was called Emiliental by everyone.
