The Burschtyn or Burschtynskyj TES ( Ukrainian Бурштинська ТЕС ) power plant is a coal-fired power plant near Burschtyn in western Ukraine .
It originally consisted of 12 blocks of 200 MW each. The power plant is connected to Hungary via the 750 kV line Albertirsa – Sachidnoukrainskaja – Vinnyzja . As an energy island , it is not synchronized with the power grid of the rest of Ukraine, but with the Western European network UCTE .
Most coal from the Lviv Oblast is burned. Due to problems with coal supplies from eastern Ukraine, the operator built up large stocks at the power plant.
