The Klösterle power plant is a run-of-river power plant operated by illwerke vkw AG in the municipality of Klösterle in Vorarlberg . It was put into operation by the Vorarlberg power plants in 1997 after a construction period of around three years. The power plant uses the height difference of 324 m between Stuben and Danöfen . The installed capacity is 16  MW and the power plant produces more than 60  GWh of electrical energy annually .

The Alfenz is at an altitude of 1340  m above sea level. A. and led through the 3.4 km long Albona and 1.7 km long Burtschastollen II to the Burtscha storage facility , which has a usable volume of around 6,900 m³. From there, the water reaches the power station in a cast iron pipeline, which runs for a length of approx. 240 m in Burtschastollen I , where two Francis turbines with horizontal shafts are installed. The processed water is collected in a compensation basin and fed evenly into the Alfenz. In order to guarantee the ecological functionality of the affected waters, a residual amount of water is released from the Burtscha reservoir .
