Kragenhof (also Gut Kragenhof ) is a Kassel exclave in the Kassel district . Kragenhof is a 75  hectare peninsula, which is formed by a Fulda loop north of Kassel and whose eastern end belongs to Lower Saxony . Kragenhof has belonged to Kassel since 1901 and was incorporated into Kassel in 1928 and assigned to the Wolfsanger / Hasenhecke district . Because of its geographical location between Lower Saxony and the Fulda, Kragenhof has both the postcode and the telephone area code for Staufenberg in Lower Saxony .

The history of Kragenhof goes back to the 12th century. The first documentary mention is from 1126. In 1155 Heinrich Raspe II donated the estate district to the Ahnaberg monastery . In 1312, Duke Albrecht II of Braunschweig-Lüneburg confirmed its possessions to the monastery. After the Reformation , the court came into the possession of the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel . From the 19th century, the estate was privately owned. From 1787 Kragenhof became the administrative district Landgrafschaft Hessen-Kassel, Niederhessen, Amt Ahna , from 1803 to 1806 the Electorate Hesse , Niederhessen, Amt Ahna, from 1807 to 1813 the Kingdom of Westphalia , department of Fulda , District Kassel , canton Ober-Vellmar , and from 1814 to 1821 assigned to the Electorate of Hesse, Lower Hesse, Amt Ahna (belonging to Simmershausen).

In 1901 the landowner Friedrich Thomée (1835–1901) made a donation to the city of Kassel in order to set up a forest recreation area there. As early as 1903, the first patients of the association to combat the risk of consumption were treated there. In 1921, 2000 patients were registered as spa guests. Since part of the recreation site was destroyed in the Second World War , the spa had to be closed in 1944. In 1928 the estate was finally incorporated.

In 1855 the first bridge in the area of Kragenhof over the Fulda was built with the now listed railway bridge. A second railway bridge was built from October 1986 to November 1988 .

Today there is an ecological farm, a bakery and various event units with overnight accommodation on the estate.
