The Plettenberg Hospital is a hospital sponsored by radprax Holding GmbH and Co. KG in Plettenberg in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . Its catchment area includes the cities of Plettenberg, Herscheid , Finnentrop , Neuenrade and Attendorn .

history

The Plettenberg manufacturer W. Seißenschmidt donated a building plot to the Evangelical Church Community on December 24, 1893, on which a hospital was to be built and equipped at his expense. The hospital celebrated its inauguration on December 2, 1894. An extension was opened on February 18, 1913.

In September 1959, the Evangelical Hospital moved from Seißenschmidt-Straße and Wichernhaus to the newly opened hospital building on Bracht. On December 2, 1994, the hospital celebrated its 100th anniversary.

In July 1999, 42 units of assisted living were moved into and two years later the new senior citizen center was opened with 48 fully inpatient, 10 short-term care places and 12 places for day care guests. After the Evangelical Hospital in Plettenberg continued to generate high losses despite organizational reforms and restructuring efforts, the Evangelical parish withdrew as a partner from the hospital and the nursing service at the end of 2006. In a bidding process it became more and more apparent that the Plettenberg Hospital should go to a large hospital chain ( Rhön-Klinikum ). Against this, there was a public protest in Plettenberg, which resulted in the establishment of a community foundation . The community foundation was able to collect around one million euros from entrepreneurs, doctors and citizens. In addition to the purchase price, investments, a social plan and future losses also had to be paid for.

Furthermore, the Plettenberg entrepreneur Reinhold Mendritzki, owner of a cold rolling mill, took part in January 2007 and took over the shares of the Evangelical Church Community for the Reinhold Mendritzki Health Foundation .

In August 2017, 100 percent of the Plettenberg Hospital went to “Die Med GmbH”, a company of the radprax group with identical corporate relationships as radprax MVZ GmbH. With 12 locations in 8 cities in North Rhine-Westphalia, the group now has a total of 800 employees. In addition to the so-called basic and standard care, five other areas of focus have emerged in hospital medicine: trauma and orthopedic surgery with endoprosthetics, abdominal surgery, gastroenterology, geriatrics and non-invasive cardiology.

The city of Plettenberg held 50.15% and the Reinhold Mendritzki Foundation 49.85% of the former non-profit sponsoring company .
