The Krasny Wympel ( Russian Красный вымпел ; Red Pennant ) is a museum ship in Vladivostok . The ship was built in 1910 by the St. Petersburg shipyard as a two-masted steam sailing yacht Admiral Zavoyko , named after Admiral Vasily Stepanowitsch Sawoiko , on behalf of the Governor General of Kamchatka and served the local administration.

history

In 1911 the ship was relocated to the Far East and used there for over ten years in passenger traffic and as a dispatch boat. When the October Revolution broke out in 1917 , the Admiral Zavoyko was one of the first ships in the Pacific Fleet to serve on the side of the revolutionaries. With the beginning of the civil war, the ship was confiscated by the White Guards in Shanghai and laid up for two years.

In 1922 it returned to Vladivostok and in 1923 it was renamed Krasny Wympel , equipped with four 75mm cannons and used as a patrol boat for the Far East Navy. Later it took part in numerous expeditions in Far Eastern waters. It was used for military operations in the Pacific during World War II.

Museum ship

Since it was decommissioned on March 11, 1958, the Krasny Wympel has been a museum ship in Vladivostok at quay No. 35, directly in front of the submarine S-56 . A small museum has been set up on board, in which many documents, photos and pieces of equipment from the ship's more than 100-year history are shown. In 2014 she was put in a dry dock for repairs.
