The Krat Rocks are an approximately 5 km 2 area of submerged reef rocks off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . They are at least 1 meter deep on the west side of Davis Anchorage and 1.3 km south of Bluff Island in front of the Vestfold Mountains .
They were discovered by the Australian geodesist Thomas Gale (* 1911) during one of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia (ANCA) named them on July 4, 1961 after I. Krat, chief engineer on the ship Thala Dan on this research trip .
