The screech owl ( Megascops ) are a genus of authentics owl (Strigidae). The genus contains about 30 species that were previously set in the scops owls ( Otus ). They are small to medium-sized owls that are found exclusively in America. Most screech owls are exclusively nocturnal and primarily hunt large insects and other small prey.
