Cresidines
The cresidines form a group of substances derived from anisole (methoxybenzene), toluene (methylbenzene) and aniline (aminobenzene). The structure consists of a benzene ring with attached methoxy (–OCH 3 ), methyl (–CH 3 ) and amino (–NH 2 ) groups as substituents . Their different arrangement results in ten constitutional isomers with the empirical formula C 8 H 11 NO and a molar mass of 137.18 g / mol.
If one proceeds from the disubstituted parent compounds, then one can regard the cresidines as methyl derivatives of anisidines , as methoxy derivatives of toluidines or as amino derivatives of methoxy-substituted cresols (= cresyl methyl ether ). The naming followed the last variant. Just as the anise idine from ordinary registered anise oil or Phenet idine of Phenet ol derived, was carried out in a manner analogous to the naming for Kres idine from Kres ol (nitrogen-containing derivatives of cresols).
The most important cresidins are:
- 3-methoxy- p -toluidine, o -cresidine
- 4- methoxy- o -toluidine, m -residine
- 6- methoxy- m -toluidine, p -residine
