p -residin can be produced batchwise by catalytic hydrogenation of 3-nitro-4-methoxytoluene .

use

p -residin is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of dyes (as a coupling component for azo dyes ) and pigments. After reductive cleavage of azo groups, the substance must not be released from textiles or leather products that come into direct contact with human skin for a longer period of time (Appendix 1 of the Consumer Goods Ordinance ).
