history

Previous construction

In 1690 one of the most developed on the former "Gaisberg" Burglengenfeld Holy Trinity consecrated chapel . In 1742 this chapel was enlarged. It continued unchanged until 1835, when the chapel tower was struck by lightning and the building burned down to the ground.

Today's church

The organ from 1914

Just one year after the fire, construction of the Kreuzbergkirche began on the site of the ruins under the direction of the builder Adolf Bürgermeister . The church was built as a plastered solid structure with a gable roof and a retracted choir closed on three sides and a front-built west tower with a pyramid roof. In 1914 the church received an organ from the company Martin Binder & Sohn from Regensburg . In 1963 the church was extensively renovated. In the course of this renovation, four new bells from Georg Hofweber were installed in the church tower . The church is used today by the parish of St. Vitus from Burglengenfeld as a devotional church on special occasions. It is also a popular place for church weddings.

Furnishing

Most of the art objects in the Kreuzbergkirche are of unknown origin and were probably only acquired after the fire in 1835. Special mention should be made of a late Gothic wooden relief of the Coronation of the Virgin Mary, at the beginning of the 16th century, in a rococo frame on the left choir wall and the late Gothic wooden figure of St. Maria, around 1500, on the opposite right choir wall.
