Brigitta Nickelsen

Brigitta Nickelsen (* 1965 in Neumünster ) is a German journalist and media manager . Since May 2010 she has been Director of Corporate Development and Operations at Radio Bremen .

Life and work

Brigitta Nickelsen studied modern German history, political science and American literature in Hamburg after graduating from high school in Quickborn . She has been working for Radio Bremen since 1990 , initially in the television editorial department of the regional magazine buten un binnen . There she held various functions, including a. worked as a reporter, moderator, head of duty and most recently as deputy head of department. In 2000 she was a fellow in the USA exchange for German journalists of the RIAS Berlin Commission .

In 2003 she was entrusted by the artistic director Heinz Glässgen at Radio Bremen with the management of the project group Radio Bremen Neu, which planned the new multimedia-oriented Radio-Bremen-Funkhaus and developed the media technology and multimedia work processes. After completing the project, she was in charge of the online coordination of Radio Bremen from 2008 to April 2010.

At the same time, she trained as a consultant for strategy and organizational development. From 1993 to 2004 Brigitta Nickelsen worked as a trainer for the ARD-ZDF media academy on the subjects of "reporting on TV", "short reporting on TV", "TV moderation" and "cross-media collaboration".

Since May 2010 she has been a member of the three-person board of directors at Radio Bremen and, as director for corporate development and operations, she is responsible for strategic corporate development, finances, human resources and human resource development as well as technology and production coordination.

As part of her role as director, Brigitta Nickelsen has been a member of the supervisory board of the Radio Bremen production subsidiary Bremedia since 2011 . From 2015 to 2019 she was deputy chairwoman of the supervisory board, and since the complete takeover of the shares by Radio Bremen in 2019, she has advised the supervisory board as a representative of the shareholder. From 2015 she was a member of the supervisory board of Degeto Film before moving to its shareholders' meeting in 2020. As chairwoman she leads the supervisory board of the Radio Bremen pension fund.

At the international level, Brigitta Nickelsen is a member of the “Academy Committee” of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU ), the steering and supervisory body for training and development topics. She moderates events and acts as an expert, including in the EBU's annual Academy Assembly, in particular on the topics of human resource development , the advancement of women in technical areas and the organizational and technical development of media companies . She is also co-founder of the network for media managers "WEM - Women Executives in the media".

In 2015, she was unanimously re-elected by the Broadcasting Council of Radio Bremen for a second five-year term as director for corporate development and operations. On the occasion of her re-election, in addition to her work on technical and organizational issues, her commitment to more women in management positions at Radio Bremen and her commitment to an improved management culture was recognized.
