Crucifixion window in Étampes

The crucifixion window in the Catholic Church of St-Basile in Étampes , a town in the Essonne department in the Île-de-France region , was created in the third quarter of the 16th century. The leaded glass window was classified as a Monument historique in 1908 .

The central window in the choir is around nine meters high and three meters wide. It was created by an unknown workshop. It shows a crucifixion scene with the crucifixion of Jesus on four lancets and below that the cross-bearing Jesus (left) and St. Basil (right) as bishop.

The tracery shows Christ on the Mount of Olives and three disciples.

In 1844 the window was restored and supplemented by the Martinet workshop in Belleville .
