The Krichak Bay ( English ; Russian бухта Кричака Buchta Kritschak ) is a bay off the East Antarctic George V coast . It lies in the western section of the Cook Ice Shelf .
Scientists of the 2nd Soviet Antarctic Expedition (1956–1958) named it. It is named after Oscar Grigoryevich Kritschak (1910–1960), head of the aerological and meteorological sections of the 1st (1955–1957) and the 5th Soviet Antarctic Expedition (1959–1961), who died on August 3, 1960 in a fire on the Mirny- Station was killed. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia transferred the Russian name to English in 1964.
