Pseudosindora palustris is a species in the legume family of the subfamily of caesalpinioideae of Borneo . It is the only species in the genus Pseudosinora .

description

Pseudosindora palustris grows as a tree up to 30–40 meters high. The trunk diameter can reach 180 centimeters. The bark is easily cracked.

The short stalked, short leaves are alternately (unpaired) pinnate with 3 to 6 leaflets . The short-stalked, rounded, pointed to pointed, bald, leathery leaflets are ovate to elliptical and have entire margins. They are about 5-14 centimeters long with a brownish leaflet stalk about 5 millimeters long. There are smaller, sloping stipules . The first pair of leaves on young plants is opposite, later they are alternate.

The short, slightly rusty hairy and paniculate , axillary or terminal inflorescences are up to 11 centimeters long. The grouped flowers with a simple perimeter are petiolate, the petals are missing. The inside hairy, 5 millimeters long, whitish, petaloid and leathery sepals are laid back and slightly boat-shaped. The 10 free stamens are alternately longer or shorter. The upper permanent ovary is stalked, with a slightly (to) bent stylus with smaller capitate scar .

There are pointed, leathery and 4.5–6 cm long, elliptical legumes with few seeds. The 1–2 seeds are 2.4–2.7 centimeters long and ellipsoid, glossy dark brown or blackish and encompassed by a two-lobed, fleshy, large and reddish aril .

Taxonomy

The first description was in 1942-43 by Colin Fraser Symington and was published posthumously in 1944 in Proc. Linn. Soc. London 155: 285 published. A synonym is Copaifera palustris (Symington) de Wit .

use

The rather heavy wood is known as (Swamp) Sepetir like that of Sindora species. It is used for various applications.
