The creeping comfrey ( Symphytum ibericum ) is a species of the genus Comfrey ( Symphytum ).

description

The creeping comfrey is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 15 to 40 centimeters. The plant forms a non-bulbous, thickened rhizome that largely rests on the substrate . There are creeping or ascending sterile and more or less upright flowering shoots. The cup is 3 to 6 millimeters long. The crown is cream-colored and 14 to 16 millimeters long.

The flowering period extends from March to July.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24 or 60.

Occurrence

The creeping comfrey occurs in northeast Turkey and Georgia on shady slopes in rhododendron bushes at altitudes of up to 1350 meters.

The creeping comfrey is rarely used as an ornamental plant for groups of trees.
