War memorial (Bad Breisig)
The war memorial from 1870/71 in Bad Breisig , a spa town in the Ahrweiler district in Rhineland-Palatinate , is a war memorial to commemorate the Franco-German War of 1870/71. The war memorial is located on Koblenzer Straße, in front of the former cemetery, and is a protected cultural monument .
An obelisk stands on a base . There are inscriptions on all four sides of the base. The obelisk has reliefs of a cross and an oak wreath with the iron cross . The inscription on the front plaque reads: "In memory of the warriors who fell in the glorious campaign of 1870/71." The inscription on the reverse refers to the initiators of the memorial: "Erected in 1878 with voluntary contributions from warrior associations and other patriots". Fallen soldiers from Niederbreisig , Waldorf , Gönnersdorf, Brohl and Reichenbach are remembered on the two side panels .
