The POW camp from ( English Prisoner-of-War Camp Site ) was a 1915 refurbished and closed on May 13, 1919 detention of the South African Army in from in today's Namibia . After the surrender of the German protection force in German South West Africa, the "active German NCOs and crews with three officers", a total of up to 1,552 people, were housed here.
The former storage area has been a Namibian national monument since 1985 .

The camp consisted of numerous buildings made of stone, clay and corrugated iron. The prisoners were also housed in tents. Today only ruins can be seen. 69 Germans and 60 members of the supervisory staff are buried in the local cemetery, 4700 meters north of the camp. Most died of the flu in 1918 . The prisoner of war camp is considered to be the latest remnant of the German colonial era in Namibia.
The memorial stone was erected in 1935 from natural stone with a height of 2.8 meters and carried a bronze plaque. The monument was redesigned in 2010.
