Krijn Torringa

Krijn Torringa (* 24. March 1940 in Groningen , † 16th August 2006 in Enschede ) was a Dutch television and radio presenter . He was best known in the 1970s as co-presenter alongside Ad Visser of the music program Toppop , which was produced by the national broadcaster AVRO .

Torringa began his career in the 1960s as a DJ on Radio Veronica . In the late 1960s he was the manager of the beat band RO-D-YS . With the presentation of the show Hollands Glorie , he took over a program for AVRO for the first time, which was then followed by the successful co-moderation of Toppop .

He moved to Curaçao with his then-wife Freda Keuker in the 1980s , but Torringa returned to the Netherlands in the late 1990s. He became a presenter at Radio 192 , Enschede FM and stadium announcer at FC Twente Enschede .

In February 2006 Torringa became seriously ill with throat cancer , which forced the end of his career. On August 16, 2006, at the age of 66, he succumbed to the consequences of this disease.
