Krikor Bedros XX. Ghabroyan

Krikor Ghabroyan ICPB ( Armenian Գրիգոր Պետրոս Ի Գապրոյան ; born November 15, 1934 in Aleppo ) is Patriarch of the Armenian Catholic Church .

Life

Grégoire Ghabroyan joined the religious order of the Institut du Clergé Patriarcal de Bzommar and was ordained a priest on March 28, 1959 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on January 3, 1977 titular Bishop of Amida degli Armeni and Apostolic Exarch of France .

He received his episcopal ordination from the Patriarch of Cilicia , Hemaiag Bedros XVII. Guedikian CAM , February 13 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Léonce Tchantayan , Auxiliary Bishop of Cilicia , and Georges Layek , Archbishop of Aleppo .

Pope John Paul II elevated the exarchate to an eparchy on June 30, 1986 and appointed him first bishop of Sainte-Croix-de-Paris . On February 2, 2013, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.

On July 24, 2015 he was elected Patriarch of Cilicia of the Armenians (official title) with his seat in the Bzommar Monastery near Beirut . Pope Francis confirmed his ecclesial fellowship to him the following day.
