The Kobelwald crystal cave is located in the municipality of Oberriet in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley , at the foot of the Alpstein region .
expansion
The front part of the cave is designed as a show cave . The rear part of the cave is only accessible to cave explorers . A larger entrance area was built in the second half of the 20th century.

At least until 1957, certain bats were at home in the cave.
Arrival, opening times
It can be reached on foot in 15 minutes from the car park behind the village of Kobelwald . It is open from Easter Sunday to October 31st.

"Crystal Cave Murder"
In October 1982, two girls were found murdered at the Kristallhöhle. The crime has not been resolved and has been statute-barred since 2012 - 30 years after the crime . Peter Beutler wrote the detective novel Kristallhöhle in 2014 , which also takes place in 1982.
