Kristian Johan Østervold (born January 16, 1885 in Austevoll , † July 29, 1960 in Fitjar ) was a Norwegian sailor .
successes
Kristian Østervold that for the Bergen Seilforening sailed, was in 1920 in Antwerp at the Olympic Games in the 12-meter class after the International Rule of 1907 Olympic champion . He was a crew member of the Atlanta , which participated as the only boat in its class. The Atlanta sufficient lack of competition in two races each reaching the goal to win the gold medal. In addition to the brothers Halvor and Rasmus Birkeland , Lauritz Christiansen , Halvor Møgster and Hans Næss , the crew also included Østervold's brothers Ole , Jan and Henrik Østervold . The latter was the owner and skipper of the Atlanta .
