Jan Olsen Østervold (born December 8, 1876 in Austevoll , † January 10, 1945 in Brooklyn , New York City ) was a Norwegian sailor .

January Østervold that for the Bergen Seilforening sailed, was in 1920 in Antwerp at the Olympic Games in the 12-meter class after the International Rule of 1907 Olympic champion . He was a crew member of the Atlanta , which participated as the only boat in its class. The Atlanta sufficient lack of competition in two races each reaching the goal to win the gold medal. In addition to the brothers Halvor and Rasmus Birkeland , Lauritz Christiansen , Halvor Møgster and Hans Næss , the crew also included Østervold's brothers Ole , Kristian and Henrik Østervold .
