Kovambo Nujoma
Kovambo Theopoldine Katjimune Nujoma (née Mushimba ; born March 10, 1931 in South West Africa ) was Namibia's first lady as the wife of President Sam Nujoma from 1990 to 2005 .
Nujoma was born to Johannes and Kandorera Mushimba. Her siblings include Aaron Mushimba (1946–2014) a SWAPO - freedom fighter in the Namibian struggle for independence and a businessman.
On May 6, 1951, she married Sam Nujoma, who later became the leader of the People's Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN). With this she has the sons Utoni (* 1952), John (* 1954), Sakaria "Sacky" (* 1957) and the daughters Nelago (1959–1960) and Usuta (* 1964). Unlike her husband, Kovambo Nujoma initially stayed in South West Africa for ten more years and only then went into exile .
On Heldentag 2014 Nujoma was awarded the Most Brilliant Order of the Sun, 1st class .
