Utoni Nujoma

Utoni Daniel Nujoma (also Uutoni ; born September 9, 1952 in Windhoek ) is a Namibian politician . He is the son of the founding president Sam Nujoma and a member of the SWAPO Central Committee . Nujoma has been Minister for Labor, Union Relations and Job Creation since March 23, 2020 .

Life and education

Nujoma grew up in Windhoek with his parents and two siblings. In 1960 his father left the family and went into exile. In 1974 Utoni and his brothers followed their father into exile in Angola .

Utoni Nujoma holds law degrees from the University of Warwick in England (1991) and Lund University in Sweden (1995).

Political career

Utoni Nujoma was elected to the party's Central Committee for the first time in August 2002 by the SWAPO Congress. From 2005 to 2010 he was a member of the National Assembly and Deputy Minister of Justice in the Pohamba I cabinet . In 2007 he was confirmed in the Central Committee of SWAPO. From March 2010 to December 2012 he headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Minister . He was then Minister of Justice in his country until March 2015 . From 2015 to 2020 he was Minister for Land Reform .
