Nangolo Mbumba (born August 15, 1941 in Olukonda ) is a Namibian politician of the SWAPO . Since 1993 he has held numerous ministerial offices. Mbumba was Namibia's Minister of Security from 2010 to 2012 . Since February 8, 2018 he has been Vice President of Namibia and since February 28, 2018 Vice Chancellor of the University of Namibia .

Education

Nangolo Mbumba is a trained secondary school teacher and completed his M.Sc. in biology from the University of Connecticut . Mbumba is u. a. Author of school books.

politics

From 1993 to 1996 Mbumba was Minister of Agriculture , then Minister of Finance until 2003 . From 2005 he was Minister of Communications until 2008 and Minister of Education until 2010. He then served as Minister of Security.

Since 1998 he has been a member of the SWAPO Politburo . From 2007 to 2012 Mbumba was Vice Secretary General of the SWAPO party . Since he was elected Secretary General on December 1, 2012 , he had to give up his office as Minister on December 4, 2012.
