Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana

Pendukeni Maria Iivula-Ithana (born October 11, 1952 in Uukwandongo , Namibia ) is a Namibian SWAPO politician, general secretary of her party and was a minister in various departments between 1991 and 2018.

Political career

Iivula-Ithana left Namibia in 1974 and went into exile. She was one of the first female fighters of the People's Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN; People's Liberation Army of Namibia). After her return, she was chairwoman of the SWAPO women's league from 1980 to 1991 before becoming Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture . In 1996, she moved to the Land and Resettlement Department as Minister . In 2001 she became attorney general . From 2005 to 2012 she was Namibia's Minister of Justice, then Minister of the Interior until 2018.

education

Iivula-Ithana holds a Bachelor of Law ( LL.B. ) (1999) and a B Juris (1998) from the University of Namibia . She also holds a Diploma in Public Administration and Management from the United Nations Institute (1979, Zambia ).
