Carl-Hermann Gustav Schlettwein , mostly just Calle Schlettwein (born June 13, 1954 in Otjiwarongo , South West Africa ) is a German-Namibian politician of SWAPO in Namibia and a minister.

Life

Calle Schlettwein first attended the private school Karibib and then the German higher private school Windhoek and studied entomology , zoology and botany at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa . He then worked as a biologist for water management in South West Africa and rose to become its head.

After Namibia's independence in 1990, Schlettwein was State Secretary in numerous ministries. In 2010 he was promoted to Vice Minister in the Namibian Ministry of Finance . On December 4, 2012, he was by President Pohamba to Trade and Industry Minister and appointed in March 2015 by the new President Hage Geingob of Finance (see also Cabinet Geingob I ). From March to July 2015 he was Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Customs Union of Southern Africa , and has held the same position since July 2019. Since March 2020 he has been a Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Land Reform .
