Charles Namoloh

Charles Dickson Ndaxu Phillip Namoloh (born February 28, 1950 in Odibo , Ohangwena ) is Minister of Security of Namibia and a member of SWAPO .

Career

He comes from Ovamboland. He entered politics in 1971 as a trade union official at SWAPO. At that time he was active in Walvis Bay during the Namibian liberation struggle . He fled to Angola but came back and was imprisoned for his work for SWAPO. Soon he was taken from prison to Ovamboland, where he was to be punished for the same thing. In the meantime, the Carnation Revolution had taken place in Portugal , liberating Angola. Namoloh was able to flee there with some supporters via Zambia .

He took part in military training in Moscow (1974 and 1982), Monterey (1993) and Cairo (1994). He rose in the military arm of SWAPO, the PLAN, and became chief of staff of the commander of PLAN. His pseudonym as a fighter was "Ho Chi Minh". From 1990 he helped to build up the Namibian Defense Forces . From 1995 he was Namibia's representative in Angola. From 2003 he was Namibia's top diplomat in India . He has been a member of the National Assembly since 2005 and was Minister of Defense until December 2012 . He was then regional minister until 2015 and has been minister of security ever since.
