Jesaya Nyamu

Jesaya Nyamu (born March 20, 1942 in Oshigambo , South West Africa ) is a Namibian politician ( RDP ). From 1964 to 2002 he was a senior member of SWAPO .

Jesaya Nyamu had been in political exile since 1964, which led him first to Tanzania and then to the USA , where he studied economics at the University of California . After graduating, he also studied economics in the USSR . His diplomatic career began with activities as a SWAPO representative in Tanzania and Zambia . From 1976 to 1980 he was Assistant Secretary for Information in Luanda , Angola . Subsequently, he was SWAPO representative in Addis Ababa , Ethiopia . After Namibia's independence in 1990, Nyamu was Deputy State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, moved to the Ministry of Mines and Energy in 1991 as Deputy Minister and from 1999 to 2002 as Minister of the same.

After openly opposing SWAPO and the leadership style of then President Sam Nujoma , he was expelled from the party in 2002. The text he wrote " on how to break President Sam Nujoma's rule, including by forming a new political party " left him no perspective in the ruling party. In 2007 he co-founded the party Rally for Democracy and Progress , at whose party congress in 2008 he was confirmed as general secretary of the party.
