Vekuii Rukoro

Vekuii Reinhard Rukoro , rarely also Reinhart (born November 11, 1954 in Otjiwarongo , South West Africa ; † June 18, 2021 in Windhoek ), was a Namibian businessman and traditional leader of the Herero since September 22, 2014 . He was crowned Paramount Chief , the head of all Herero, on May 2, 2015 . This was rejected by most of the Herero leaders (as of August 2018).

As a member of the Namibia National Front , he was a member of the Constituent Assembly of Namibia in 1989 .

Life

Rukuro attended schools in Swakopmund , Karibib and Döbra . He then studied law at the UNISA Open University in South Africa and obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Warwick in England in 1983 and a Master of Laws degree from the American University's Washington College of Law in 1987 . Later Rukuro worked as a lawyer .

Rukuro was a member of the first parliament of Namibia as a member of the SWANU of Namibia. From 2006 to 2014 he was managing director of FNB Namibia and then managing director of the meat company Meatco .

He died of COVID-19 .
