Kristian Fenzl

Kristian Fenzl (born October 12, 1946 in Wels) is an Austrian sculptor , painter , draftsman , designer and university professor .

Live and act

Fenzl grew up in Steyr and attended the HTL there after compulsory school. From 1969 to 1974 he attended the Academy of Applied Arts Vienna , where he studied metal design with Franz Hagenauer, and in 1975 he completed post-graduate studies at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa at the RSA Department of Creative Arts. At the end of the 1970s, he designed vehicles for the Rosenbauer company and other Upper Austrian companies.

From 1976 to 1983 he was assistant and from 1983 professor at the Art University Linz . Since 1983 he has been a member of the artists' association MAERZ .

In 1984, together with the ethnologist Fritz Trupp and the social psychologist Norbert Minkendorfer , he founded the interdisciplinary institute for ethnic design in Linz. Numerous publications were created in this context. A visiting professorship at Belem University took him to Brazil in 1999 .

From 2000 to 2007 he headed the department for knowledge transfer and from 2007 to 2009 he was deputy director of the Institute for Space and Design at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz . From 2003 to 2008 he was a member of the University Council of the University of Applied Arts Vienna .

Fenzl has been married to Veronika since 1974.

Exhibitions

Fenzl's exhibition activity began in 1967 as part of the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts in Salzburg and includes both individual and group exhibitions at home and abroad in various private and public galleries.
