Kristin Sverresdatter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kristin Sverresdatter ( Norrøn : Kristín Sverrisdóttir ; * around 1190 in Norway ; † around 1213 there ) was the wife of the Norwegian King Philipp Simonsson . Her parents were the Norwegian king and leader of the Birkebeiner Sverre Sigurdsson and the Swedish king's daughter Margrete Eriksdotter . When her father died in 1202, her mother returned to Sweden without her. As the king's daughter, Kristin was not allowed to leave the country during the civil war and was therefore with her half-brother Håkon Sverresson in Bergenrecorded. In 1209 she married Philipp Simonsson , the last king of the Norwegian baglers, in Oslo . Their marriage was part of the reconciliation between the Bagler and Birkebeiner parties. Kristin died giving birth to their son, who only survived his mother by a few days.
