Kristof Goddaert (born November 21, 1986 in Sint-Niklaas ; † February 18, 2014 in Antwerp ) was a Belgian road cyclist .

Career

Kristof Goddaert came third in the junior competition of Omloop Het Volk in 2004 . In the 2006 season he won the one-day race Hasselt-Spa-Hasselt and finished third in the Belgian U-23 time trial championship. At the end of the season he drove for the Continental Team Pictoflex Bikeland Hyundai as a stagiaire .

The next year he drove for the youth team Davitamon-Win for Life-Jong Vlaanderen . Here he won, among other things, a stage in the Ronde van Antwerpen and was third in the national U-23 time trial championship and the Nationale Sluitingsprijs .

From 2008 to 2009 Goddaert drove for the Belgian professional Continental Team Topsport Vlaanderen . In his first year there he finished second in the Tour de Vendée and ninth in Paris-Tours . Most recently, Goddaert was active for the Swiss team IAM Cycling .

On February 18, 2014, Goddaert fell during a training trip in Antwerp while crossing the tracks of an industrial railway and was run over by a bus driving behind him. He died the same day from his injuries.
