The Croatian Darts Association ( Croat . Hrvatski Pikado Savez , (HPS)) is the official national umbrella organization for darts in Croatia .

history

founding

The Croatian Darts Association was founded after Croatia's independence from the multi-ethnic state of Yugoslavia in 1992, initially under the name "Association of Compact Sports". The name was changed to the Croatian Darts Association (HPS) on August 30, 1999.

Members

The Croatian Darts Association has a total of 1,640 registered dart players. They take part in the national Croatian darts competitions of the regional leagues and in the Croatian championship as well as in the Croatian cup competition, as well as in the national "Cybermasters" tournament. Internationally, they represent Croatia in participation in Darts World Championships, Darts European Championships, with participation in the Darts European Cup and other tournaments that are organized and held by the EDU (European Dart Union). The Croatian Darts Association currently has seven regional associations in the following Croatian counties :

The following regional darts associations are about to be founded: The Pikado Savez Vukovarsko srijemske županije, the Pikado Savez Ličko Senjske županije, the Pikado Savez Slavonske županije and the Pikado Savez in the Karlovac area .

Darts league

The national darts competitions in Croatia are held in the seven regional associations under categories A, B and C. For example, in the Zagreb regional association, 18 clubs with 38 teams take part in categories A, B and C.

Championship and cup competition

The Croatian Darts Championship is organized once a year. The championship usually takes between two and three days. The best teams from the seven regional associations take part in it. In the single category for the title of the best Croatian dart player, all registered dart players in Croatia can take part.

The Croatian Darts Cup competition is held in September. The 24 best regional teams take part in this.

Cybermaster tournament

During the national darts competitions, the Croatian Darts Federation organizes eight additional darts competitions of the Cybermaster tournament. It takes place in the various regional associations. The points achieved in the tournament are then incorporated into the overall result of the national ranking. Men's singles, women singles and mixed doubles take place in the Cybermaster competition. The four best darts players of the tournament will be nominated for the Croatian national dart team, in addition to these two other darts players will be nominated for the national team by the Croatian Darts Association.

European successes

Croatian darts players achieved the following successes at European darts competitions:

  • 1999: Winner in the FECS category in Kalkar, Germany ,

Winning the EP of the EDU in Brno, Czech Republic - by the Croatian men's national darts team

  • 2000: Winning the EP in Riccione, Italy - by the Croatian men's national darts team
  • 2002: EP win - by the Croatian national women's darts team in Sankt Johann, Austria
  • 2003: EP won by the Croatian women's national darts team in Salou, Spain
  • 2004: EP won by the Croatian National Women's Dart Team in Hamburg, Germany
  • 2008: Second place in the EP - by the Croatian men's national darts team in Caorle , Italy

World championships

Croatian darts players have been darts world champions several times when they have participated in darts world championships.

Ranking

The Croatian national darts team is second behind Austria in the overall European ranking. The best single player in Europe is the Croatian Boris Krčmar according to the EDU ranking.

Candidacies

So far, two European darts championships have been held in Croatia, in 2001 in Poreč and 2006 in Umag . The Croatian Darts Association ran in 2007 at the World Dart Federation ( WDF ) to host the Darts World Championships in Croatia.

Croatian darts newspaper

The Croatian Darts Association publishes its monthly newspaper "Pikado". It is distributed free of charge to all Croatian darts associations and darts clubs. The circulation is around 5,000 copies.

Humanitarian tournaments

The Croatian Darts Association has organized some humanitarian darts competitions for the physically handicapped and blind people.
