Kuhborn

The Kuhborn is a stagnant body of water southwest of the Heudeberberg near the Hasserode district of Wernigerode in the Harz Mountains . It belonged to the pond system of the Augustinian hermit monastery in Himmelpforten and was once used as a cattle trough. Today the Kuhborn u. a. used as a wetland habitat. It drains through a ditch to the Holtemme .

Immediately past the Kuhborn, a marked hiking trail leads from the Himmelpforte over the Kuhbornwiese to the Kastanienplatz on the Schwengskopf and on to the Plessenburg . Other paths lead over the Eichberg or the Piepergrund down to Hasserode.
