Kujtim Shala (born July 13, 1964 in Prizren , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Croatian football player and coach .

Career

society

Kujtim Shala started his professional career at KF Liria Prizren , from where he moved to Partizan Belgrade in 1983 . A year later he switched to KF Prishtina , where he was under contract until 1989. After a two-year stint at Dinamo Zagreb , the midfielder joined the French first division club Stade Rennes in 1991 .

After only one season in France, Shala moved to the 2. Bundesliga to the Stuttgarter Kickers , where he was able to establish himself as a regular player for one season. The next station was the league competitor Chemnitzer FC , where Shala completed two seasons. In 1995 there was a change to the then Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf , where the Croatian could never really assert himself.

The last stations of his career were from 1996 to 2000 at VfB Leipzig and VfR Mannheim . Shala then acted as a coach at FC Hochstätt Türkspor and KF Prishtina .

On October 29, 2014 Shala was introduced as the new assistant coach of the southwest regional division SVN Zweibrücken .

National team

At the international level, Shala played an international match for the Croatian national football team in 1990 . This game played on October 17, 1990 against an American national team was - although played before the country's actual independence in June 1991 - the first international game of a Croatian selection that was independent of Yugoslavia and was won 2-1.

His son Andis Shala is also a professional footballer.
