The cultural landscape Moritzburg is under protection of monuments, in the list of monuments of Saxony as a material entity (ID no. 09301072) registered cultural landscape in the municipality of Moritzburg north of Dresden . It consists of forests, parks and gardens, ponds with islands and numerous buildings and is one of the most important baroque hunting lodges and parks in Germany. The individual monuments are of architectural, art historical, forest and hunting history and landscape design significance.

The area forms a complex of landscape architecture that was created in the 17th century. The cultural landscape lies in the Moritzburger Land and includes the cadastral areas of Moritzburg, Bärnsdorf, Bernsdorf, Cunnerswalde and Reichenberg. The following aggregate components and individual features are part of the cultural landscape of Moritzburg:

  • Moritzburg Castle with castle pond and castle garden - electoral hunting castle (with chapel and all original inventory), with outside stairs, terraces, sculptures, eight pond and gatehouses, south gate and bridge, north gate and bridge, the castle island with park and retaining walls, roadway and Pond house at the crossroads, with two post mile columns at the castle driveway, plus all sculptures in the entire park area, with the castle garden north of the pond (plus two cavalier houses, park walls with three gates, farm yard and castle gardening), with the pond system (with a pond stand in sandstone, the castle island with pavilion and the Uferallee) (location)

  • Hellhaus am Jagdstern in the old zoo, royal hunting pavilion or belvedere on a walled pedestal with ramps and radial aisle system (hunting star), which originally served for parforce hunting - artistically, historically and in terms of landscape design, striking late baroque building with a tendency towards classicism with design requirements, for example everyday court culture at the end of the 18th century, the Jagdstern (zoo) one of the earliest of its kind in Germany, an important part of the Moritzburg cultural landscape.   • Jagdforst Alter Tiergarten (old zoo with hunting star and lighthouse north of the castle pond ), with old path and ditch system and remnants of the former wall enclosure, all older arch bridges made of quarry stone or sandstone, e.g. B. Road bridge on Mittelteich over the drain to Frauenteich (location)
  • Jagdforst Neuer Tiergarten (Neuer Tiergarten west of the castle pond ), with the high castle (tunnel) in the Neuer Tiergarten, all arch bridges made of quarry stone or sandstone (location)
  • Moritzburg ponds in the landscape protection area (LSG) Friedewald and Moritzburg pond area . - Ponds with Altenteich (Oberer and Unterer / Niederer Altenteich), fishing pond, large pond (Ober-Großteich and Nieder-Großteich) with two islands (Stern- and Eremiteninsel), Jägerteich, Johann-Georgen-Teich or Georgenteich, Mittelteich, Schlossteich (Western and eastern castle pond) with island (pavilion island), swan pond, Sophiente pond and Steingrundteich, at the ponds partly historical pond stands (location)
  • Port facility in continuation of the eastern axis of the Fasanenschlösschen with landing stage as well as four sandstone vases adorned by dolphins, stone benches and pier with lighthouse, part of the monument ensemble of the Fasanerie am Großteich (location)
  • Walls of the Dardanelles at the Moritzburg pond , canal and two gate pillars, including "Entenfang" (location)
  • Moritzburg game reserve - modern wildlife zoo (location)
  • Historic game reserve of the pheasantry and game reserve walls with gates as well as former pheasant sheds, part of the monument ensemble of the pheasantry at the large pond (location)
  • Pheasant castle with adjacent pheasant enclosure, pheasant garden and rock terraces with plant and animal sculptures, pretty baroque building with landscaped surroundings, the rooms inside are mostly in rococo shapes, the pheasant castle is part of the pheasantry monument ensemble at the large pond (location)

  • Waldschänke Moritzburg (former gatekeeper house with foal stable, previously Hegerhauses), today a guest house and hotel, with entrance pillars, with a hunting frieze "Jägerzug zu Fastnacht" from 1609 by Daniel Bretschneider the Elder as a permanent interior, part of the monument ensemble Fasanerie am Großteich (Lage)
