Kumiko Ogura
Kumiko Ogura ( Japanese 小 椋 久 美 子 , Ogura Kumiko ; born July 5, 1983 in Kawagoe , Mie Prefecture ) is a badminton player from Japan .
Career
Kumiko Ogura was born as the third of four siblings in Kawagoe. In the second grade she began with the badminton in the Sport Shōnendan, the Japanese equivalent of the German sports youth . She later attended the Tennōji High School in the Osaka district of the same name . During this time, she took part in the Japanese inter-high high school championships since 1999. In 2000 she reached the second place in the women's doubles and in 2001 at the selected high school championships second place in the singles. After school, she joined the Sanyo company and has played for their work team since March 22, 2002.
Ogura won her first international title in Scotland in 2003, a year before her first national title. Together with Reiko Shiota , with whom she achieved all of her great successes, she never gave up this Japanese double title until 2008. In 2005 both became Asian runners-up, in 2007 they took bronze at the same event. In the same year they were also third at the World Cup. In 2008 both qualified for the Olympics and finished fifth there. In the badminton world and in Japan, the pairing Ogura / Shiota to Ogushio is simplified.
On March 20, 2010, she retired from the sport. Since May 2010 she has been working for Kai Enterprise, where she teaches badminton to children.
She married rugby player Daisuke Yamamoto in March 2011, but was divorced in September 2012.
