Kundai Leroy Jeremiah Benyu (born December 12, 1997 in Camden Town , London ) is an English - Zimbabwean football player who is under contract with Celtic Glasgow and on loan to Helsingborgs IF .

Career

Kundai Benyu was born to Zimbabwean parents in Camden Town, a district of the metropolis of London. From 2011 he played in the youth of Ipswich Town . At the age of 17, Benyu signed his first professional contract with the club. In December 2016, the midfielder was loaned to Aldershot Town in the National League . He played 23 games this season and scored five goals. In July 2017, the 19-year-old moved to Celtic Glasgow in Scotland for an undisclosed fee . Benyu made his professional debut three weeks after signing against Linfield FC in Europe, after being substituted on for Callum McGregor . In January 2018, Benyu was awarded to the English third division club Oldham Athletic .

In May 2017, Benyu was called up for the first time in the Zimbabwean national team on the occasion of a qualifier for the Africa Cup 2019 against Liberia , but was not used in the game. He finally made his international debut in November 2017 against Lesotho .

In February 2019, Benyu was awarded to the Swedish first division club Helsingborgs IF until the end of the year.
