The Kuny Domokos Megyei Múzeum (Kuny Domokos County Museum ), also Tatai Vármúzeum (Tata Castle Museum) is a museum in the Hungarian city of Tata , which deals with archaeological , local history, artistic and arts and crafts ethnographic exhibits.

In 1949 the museum located in Komárom-Esztergom county was enacted by law and established in Villa Quadt in 1951. The foundation of the collections was formed by the exhibits of the Piarist Museum founded in Tatatóváros in 1912 . Due to the rapid expansion of the holdings, it was very quickly necessary to move to the lake-side front of the medieval castle on Lake Öreg, which was reconstructed in neo-Gothic style in the 19th century . The museum opened there in 1954.

One of the most important Roman-era exhibits is a barrel-vaulted oblong, rectangular room, reconstructed from the remains of frescoes , which originally belonged to a private house of the ancient Brigetio ( Komárom ).

On the ground floor there is a Roman lapidary and medieval fragments from the castle of Tata, which was destroyed by the Ottomans , and the Vérteskeresztúr monastery . Another room is dedicated to Roman finds from various excavation sites - including the Ács-Vaspuszta fort on the Limes Pannonicus . The products from Brigetio's ancient pottery workshops are particularly valuable .

The middle floor shows, among other things, the local pottery production in Tata, which had its heyday in the late 18th and 19th centuries. The first Tata faience factory was founded in 1758 by the French Dominique Cuny (Hungarian: Domokos Kuny), after whom the museum is named. A mighty, medieval oven made of green tiles is also important on this floor. On the top floor there is an exhibition on the Esterházy family , who owned a palace not far from the castle.
