Jana Krivec (born May 30, 1980 in Šempeter pri Gorici ) is a Slovenian chess player .

Life

Jana Krivec attended the Gimnazija Nova Gorica. She graduated from the University of Ljubljana in psychology . She then completed a doctoral degree at the university and wrote her dissertation on cognitive information processing using the example of the game of chess. At the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana she is a research assistant at the Department of Intelligent Systems.

She learned to play chess from her father.

Single successes

She won the Slovenian women's individual championship seven times: 1997 in Ljubljana, 2000 in Škofja Loka , 2002 in Dobrna , 2003 in Bled , 2005 in Ptuj , 2006 in Ljubljana and 2009 in Otočec .

In July 2003 she won the International Swiss Women's Championship in Silvaplana , in fourth position on the seed list, ahead of Tatjana Lematschko . In November 2003 Jana Krivec won a women's tournament in Ptuj ahead of Nikoletta Lakos . In October 2005 she won the Jababeka tournament in Jakarta in front of Nana Alexandria .

Team chess

Since 1996 she has played for the Slovenian women's national team at all ten chess Olympiads with an individual total of 65 points from 108 games (+50 = 30 −28) and from 1999 to 2011 and again in 2015 at eight European team championships with an overall result of 26 points from 60 games (+15 = 22 −23), whereby she received an individual bronze medal in Batumi in 1999 for her result of 3.5 points from 7 games on the first reserve board. Playing on the top board, she took part in five Mitropa women's cups (2002, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013), winning them in Saint-Vincent in 2002 and in Rogaška Slatina in 2009 . In 2010 in Chur and 2012 in Šibenik , Slovenia took second place.

She plays club chess in Slovenia for ŠK Nova Gorica , with which she also took part in the European Women's Club Cups in 1999, 2000 and 2001. In Croatia she plays for the Šk Goranka from Ravna Gora .

Title and rating

In 2002 she received the title of International Women's Champion (WIM). Since November 2007 she has held the title of Grand Master of Women (WGM). She achieved the standards for this at the 6th HIT Open in February 2001 in Nova Gorica , where she won against Marko Tratar , among others , at the 12th HIT Open in February 2007, where she defeated Ivan Šarić , among others , and at the 16th Croatian Women's team championship in October 2007 in Šibenik.

In February 2015 she tops the Slovenian women's Elo ranking. Jana Krivec was the first Slovenian chess player to achieve an Elo rating of more than 2300. She succeeded in doing this in October 2003.
